Trane Rand provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
that enhance the quality and comfort of the air in homes and buildings
around the world. Its offerings, under the Trane and American Standard
Heating & Air Conditioning brands, include energy efficient systems,
service and parts support and advanced building controls.
This position is required to closely interact with the Account Manager,
Project Managers, sub-contractors, and material suppliers to ensure
timely completion of a detailed cost estimate.
- Responsible for creating cost estimates consisting of materials,
sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service
work, etc.), and other construction-related activities to assist
Account Managers in bidding on or determining price of project.
- Assists Account Manager with determining the need for outsourced
engineering involvement.
- Develops detailed scope based on Account Managers proposed scope.
- Creates detailed cost estimate based on detailed scope.
- Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities
and/or risk items that will occur on various projects.
- Works with Project Manager to develop of the scope of work for sub-
contractors.
- Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-
contractors through quotations for materials/services.
- Documents work by maintaining files for each job.
- Creates detailed cost estimates including system sketches, scope
definition, exceptions/exclusions, and vendor/sub-contractor
quotes.
- Generates and distributes proposals with Account Managers.
- Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with company
estimating tools.
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.

Education Type: HVAC related
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college
or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air
Conditioning; and three years HVAC experience, or equivalent combination
of education and experience. Must have knowledge of various HVAC
products, systems, electronics, and pneumatic controls. Working
knowledge of office equipment and Microsoft Office products.
